100in1Day has come and gone, but the memories remain strong. Thank you to everyone who helped make this day a great success. There were yarn bombings and garage sales and plenty. There were community gatherings, street beautifications, and art installations galore. You want a water fight, there was one of those too. With projects taking place all over the city, Edmonton positively glowed with creativity, citizen engagement, and sheer awesomeness.
Kites flew high in Walterdale park with David Bayda's Yeg Kite Day. Streets were closed to automobiles in Westmount and Richie for kids to play freely and folks to park themselves in lawn chairs where cars normally sit. Speaking of sitting, Wesley Andreas's Red Chair Ave project brought chairs to lesser known parks and green spaces around Alberta Avenue—there was also a hula hoop party in one of the green spaces and a public art installation in another.
