We’re 3 weeks away from 100in1Day!
So you want to make a project for 100in1Day on June 3 but maybe you’re not quite sure what exactly you want to do. Or if you even have enough time.
A project can be as simple as setting up a free lemonade stand and chatting with your neighbours. It can even be something like screening a film outdoors in your front yard! Your project doesn't have to be complicated or expensive. Projects can be as big or small as you want; however, all projects must be safe, legal and inclusive.
We’ve got 3 new and cool 100in1Day projects that will get your creative juices flowing:
Where: 101 Ave and 67 Street (near new Capilano library site)
When: 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Get together and add some life to the field by the new Capilano library site with art, live music, ice cream, lemonade, plants and games! The Happiness Crew band from Kenilworth has volunteered to entertain you with live music from the 50s and 60s! Beatles anyone? Librarians will also be running a scavenger hunt and providing info on the new library. Everyone is welcome and is encouraged to walk, bike or skate over if possible. Draw prizes for those arriving by people power! Parking is limited and bike racks will be provided. This event runs rain or shine and tents are available.
Where: Avenue neighbourhoods (details to come)
When: 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Red Chair Ave is about creating conversations and community. Join us along Alberta Ave where 100 bright red chairs will be placed in parks and green spaces, such as pocket parks, and smaller neighbourhood parks through the Ave neighbourhoods (Spruce Avenue, Westwoood, Delton, Alberta Avenue, Parkdale-Cromdale, Eastwood, Elmwood Park). A map of chair locations will be posted closer to the event date.
This project's 3 goals are:
- To help make underused parks more well-known and active.
- To build new connections within the community and beyond.
- To encourage front yard vibrancy in the neighbourhoods after the event.
Want to volunteer with Red Chair Ave? Send them an email RedChairAve@gmail.com.
Where: 112 Avenue
Eastglen and Highlands students will be using spray paint chalk to add colourful mandala designs to historic 112 Avenue for June 3. This collaborative project will be about connecting with peers across schools to create colourful and interesting designs. The goal is for members of the community to share and enjoy art while adding some colour to the neighbourhood!
