Critical Lass is an inclusive ride for female cyclists in street clothes, on a route suitable for novice riders, to promote cycling as an approachable, fun, everyday activity. It has been organized during fair weather by the Loop-Frame Love blogging collective since June 2010. We usually choose a place to have coffee and a snack as our mid-way point so the riders can get to know each other and build community.
After less frequent rides last year due to our travels, this year we are returning to a monthly schedule, and hoping to extend the ride into the winter months. We have just created a Facebook page (previously we just used event listings), and we will soon be relaunching our redesigned blog, to help promote the events.
The tongue-in-cheek "Critical Lass" name (a riff on the wonderful worldwide Critical Mass rides) was first used here in Edmonton, and has since been adopted for similar rides in Chicago and Seattle.
